The Sift Mobs: Blub, Creatures & Dungeons II Guide

Mojang describes The Sift as an independent ecosystem with unique mobs that can be companions or threats. Dungeons II is now playable, while the 2027 Java and Bedrock roster is still mostly unrevealed.

What Mobs Live in The Sift?

Mojang's official Dungeons II material confirms that The Sift contains strange mobs, both friendly and hostile, and describes them as unique to the dimension. Launch imagery also labels hostile “sifter” mobs. The broader released-game roster is now being catalogued by community databases, but some names circulating online are community labels rather than Mojang-published names.

For the 2027 Java and Bedrock version, the safe conclusion is much narrower: Mojang showed at least one mob in development footage and has not published a complete vanilla bestiary. This page therefore keeps current Dungeons II information separate from future vanilla expectations.

Why the labels below matter: “officially named,” “community-documented,” and “fan name” are not the same thing. New-game wikis often turn placeholder names into fake facts if they are not marked clearly.

Blub

Blub is one of the clearest named creatures associated with The Sift. Mojang's official Dungeons II Deluxe Upgrade includes a Blub pet, confirming the name in first-party material. The small blue, rabbit-like creature also matches the visual mascot role seen around The Sift reveal.

What is still uncertain is how the creature will function in the 2027 sandbox version. Mojang has not announced vanilla spawn rules, breeding, drops, taming, or whether the Java/Bedrock creature will behave exactly like its Dungeons II counterpart.

That makes Blub a good example of how this wiki will evolve: keep the official identity stable, then add edition-specific behavior only when Mojang or the released game provides evidence.

Known Creature Groups in the Released Game

The released Dungeons II version contains a much larger ecosystem than Mojang named in pre-launch articles. Current community databases catalog multiple Sift creature families, bosses, ambient entities, and support mobs. Because some names originated as community placeholders, this page groups them by confidence instead of presenting every label as equally official.

FIRST-PARTY NAME

Blub

Officially named in Mojang store material as a Dungeons II Deluxe pet and visually tied to The Sift.

  • Status: named by Mojang
  • Type: creature / pet association
  • Vanilla 2027: behavior not announced
FIRST-PARTY TERM

Sifters

Mojang's launch imagery refers to hostile “sifter” mobs, establishing the family term even when individual variant names need separate verification.

  • Status: official family wording
  • Role: hostile Sift inhabitants
  • Variants: verify individually before treating names as official
COMMUNITY-DOCUMENTED

Echo Golem and other inhabitants

Post-launch databases document additional creatures and location-specific encounters. These are useful for Dungeons II guides, but source labels should stay attached while Mojang's own public bestiary remains limited.

BOSSES / SPECIAL ENCOUNTERS

High-threat creatures

Community guides identify dedicated Sift bosses and larger encounters. Boss names and move sets deserve separate pages only after they show stable search demand and can be verified from the released game.

Why Sift Mobs Behave Differently

One of the most useful official details is not a mob name at all. In the Official Xbox Podcast, Dungeons II design director Laura De Llorens describes The Sift as its own independent ecosystem. Some native mobs thrive in environmental conditions that hurt the player because those creatures are adapted to the dimension.

Xbox Wire similarly says the dimension has unique companions and threats, shifting tides that affect characters, hazardous blocks, and new rules to learn after entering. That framing suggests a better long-term wiki structure than a flat name list: each mob page should record environment, behavior, hostility, interactions with tides or hazards, drops, edition, and source status.

Official Names vs Community Names

Officially namedA name published by Mojang, Xbox, a first-party store page, or clearly shown in the released game UI. These are safe as permanent entity names.
Community-documentedA name recorded by current players or game databases after release. Useful, but it should link back to evidence and remain editable.
Fan / placeholder nameA descriptive label created because the creature has not received a published official name. It should never be presented as confirmed Mojang terminology.

This distinction matters especially now, because The Sift has only been playable for a few days and search results are filling rapidly with copied lists. A wiki that keeps confidence levels visible can age better than pages that silently turn speculation into canon.

Are Dungeons II Mobs Coming to Java & Bedrock?

Not as a confirmed one-to-one roster. Mojang says Dungeons II gives players a taste of mobs, blocks, and biomes before The Sift reaches Minecraft in 2027, but Xbox Wire also says Mojang is not yet explaining how the main-game version will stand out from Dungeons II's expression of the dimension.

That means a creature appearing in Dungeons II should be tagged Dungeons II until Mojang separately confirms it for Java and Bedrock. The same rule applies to boss fights, taming systems, drops, and environmental interactions.

The Sift Mobs FAQ

What mobs are in The Sift?

Dungeons II contains unique friendly and hostile Sift mobs. Mojang has not published a complete public bestiary, while post-launch community databases are cataloguing the released-game roster.

What is the blue bunny-like Sift mob?

The small blue creature is commonly identified as Blub. Mojang also uses the Blub name for the Dungeons II Deluxe Edition pet.

Are all Dungeons II Sift mobs coming to Minecraft in 2027?

No full roster has been confirmed. The dimension is coming to Java and Bedrock, but individual creature carryover should be treated as unknown until Mojang confirms it.

Are mod mobs official Sift mobs?

No. Mods such as Mielon's The Sift add their own Singer, Echo Golem, Sifter, Dark Sniffer, and other mechanics. Those belong to that community project unless Mojang independently uses the same concepts.
